This article intends to give an overview of journalism, media and communication studies in Australia, as they are in the second half of the second decade of the 21st century. Emphasizing the date of this report is highly deliberate. The field of media, and journalism in particular, is very much in flux due to the digital transformation of communication. A comparison with the comprehensive report titled Mapping Communication and Media Research: Australia, carried out ten years ago as part of a series undertaken by the University of Helsinki (Rahkonen 2007), highlights the speed with which research foci and course offerings have shifted in just a decade. …
